United Way gives to FOA – Families of Addicts Program

Posted on December 5, 2017

United Way of Van Wert County made a $3,900 donation to the FOA -Families of Addicts. The money was given from the New Initiative Funds that provide one-time money for a new project or program.

The FOA is new to the Van Wert community and you will continue to see more about as the program starts rolling out. This organization originated 4 years ago and has expanded to five different cities. The mission of FOA is to educate, empower and embrace families, friends, and individuals struggling with addiction by providing support and promoting recovery. What makes FOA so unique is they provide support for the entire family and advocate for individuals to find their face and voice, which is key to eliminating the stigma associated with addiction.

They will begin meeting weekly at the Council on Aging starting Wednesday, January 11th at 7 pm and will continue to meet weekly on Wednesdays.
