The 20th Annual United Way Day of Caring has been set for Friday, September 28, 2018. This years’ event Chair is Marie Bennett. Marie is the Business Office Manager at Roselawn Manor. She joined the Board of Trustees 4 years ago and joined the Executive Board this year. The Co-Chair of the event this year is Karen Lautzenheiser who works at the Van Wert Manor. She joined the Board of Trustees 3 years ago and joined the Executive Board this year.
The Day of Caring barrels will be placed in local businesses, schools, and industries for collections of non-perishable food and personal care items. On September 28th the barrels are picked up and taken out to Vantage Career Center to be sorted. The goal for this year’s food drive is 36,000 items.
This year a collaboration will take place and now, food and items will be disbursed between Salvation Army, Trinity Friends Church, and the Van Wert Cooperative Ministries Food Pantry. This will make the event even bigger and better knowing it is going to a total of three pantries and getting more items into more homes.
The top need this year is:
- dish soap
- feminine products
- laundry detergent
- toilet paper
The American Red Cross blood drive will take place on Friday, September 28th at Trinity Friends Church from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
