Why should I contribute to United Way?
United Way of Van Wert County supports 25 local non-profit organizations. For individuals in Van Wert County, contributing to the United Way has many benefits; it is for everyone. You never know when you may require assistance from one of the organizations funded. Your one donation benefits many organizations and the funds are being utilized for well-established and researched programs.
Can my dollars go to a specific organization? How do I know they receive my funds?
You may work in Van Wert but live in another county that you wish to support. You may designate to any member agency of your choice or you may designate to another United Way outside of the county. We do encourage you to give to the United Way of Van Wert County because it allows the biggest impact to all of the organizations that we serve. If you do choose to support a particular agency, they receive a report from us that shows the donor and amount given, unless the donor prefers to remain anonymous.
How do I know where my money is going?

How much of every dollar actually goes to the organizations?
Seventy-nine cents from every dollar given to United Way of Van Wert County goes directly to the organizations we serve. Twenty-one cents from every dollar runs the administrative and campaign functions for the United Way of Van Wert County office. The organization constantly looks for ways to save money and keep our administrative rate low. United Way of Van Wert County currently employs one full and one part time employee.
